BREAKING NEWS: Eternatus is returning to Pokémon GO! Brand-new leaks have revealed that the terrifying Legendary Pokémon from the Galar region will be making its return during the upcoming GO Wild Area – Lead Out event, giving Trainers another chance to obtain Eternatus and collect more Eternatus Candy.
Eternatus will return during GO Wild Area – Lead Out, currently scheduled to take place from Saturday, November 14 through Monday, November 23. At the time of this video, there are no further confirmed details about exactly how Eternatus will be available, so this information is based on newly leaked details and may change. The return of Eternatus is especially important for Trainers who missed the previous Max Finale event, as well as players looking for additional Eternatus Candy and Candy XL to power up their existing Pokémon. The Max Finale post-credit scene previously teased that Eternatus would return, and these new leaks appear to reveal when that return could happen.
Eternatus is a Legendary Poison and Dragon-type Pokémon from Generation 8 and is Pokémon #890 in the Pokédex. It has incredible offensive potential and can Dynamax in Pokémon GO, making it an extremely valuable Pokémon for Max Battles, raids and PvE content.
It has a maximum CP of 5,007 at Level 50 and 4,429 CP at Level 40. At Level 20, Eternatus can be encountered between 2,435 and 2,530 CP, while weather-boosted Level 25 encounters range from 3,044 to 3,163 CP. Eternatus receives a weather boost in Cloudy weather for its Poison typing and Windy weather for its Dragon typing.
For Trainers hunting the perfect IV, a 100% IV Eternatus is 2,530 CP at Level 20 and 3,163 CP when weather boosted at Level 25. These are the hundo CP values to watch for when catching Eternatus.
It’s weak to Dragon, Ground, Ice and Psychic-type attacks. It also resists Grass, Bug, Electric, Fighting, Fire, Poison and Water-type attacks, making its typing particularly useful in certain battles.
The reason Eternatus is so powerful in Pokémon GO is its signature attack, Dynamax Cannon. Eternatus can use Dynamax Cannon with Dragon Tail or Poison Jab, giving it incredible damage output. Its recommended Dragon-type moveset is Dragon Tail and Dynamax Cannon, while Poison Jab and Dynamax Cannon is another extremely powerful combination.
Eternatus is an S-Tier attacker and one of the strongest Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Dragon Tail and Dynamax Cannon give it enormous damage output for raids and PvE battles, while its Poison typing also makes it one of the strongest Poison-type attackers. This versatility allows Eternatus to fill multiple roles.
Eternatus is particularly powerful in Max Battles. Dynamax Cannon increases the base power of regular Max Moves from 250, 300 and 350 to 300, 350 and 450 respectively. It can also increase G-Max Moves by another 100 damage, reaching 550 damage. This makes Eternatus an extremely valuable Pokémon for Dynamax and Gigantamax battles.
Dynamax Cannon also has an Adventure Effect. Trainers can spend 5,000 Stardust and 30 Eternatus Candy to activate the effect, temporarily increasing the level of their Pokémon’s Max Moves for 10 minutes during Max Battles. The effect can be extended using additional Stardust and Eternatus Candy.
Eternatus is also a powerful Pokémon in Pokémon GO PvP, particularly in the Master League. Its recommended Master League moveset is Dragon Tail, Dynamax Cannon and Flamethrower. It can defeat a wide range of powerful Legendary and meta Pokémon, although Fairy, Ground and Steel-type Pokémon remain major threats.
There is currently no Shiny Eternatus available in Pokémon GO, so Trainers should not expect a Shiny version during this return unless Niantic announces otherwise. Eternatus cannot currently be traded or transferred to Pokémon HOME, and it has no evolution in Pokémon GO.
Eternatus has a base catch rate of approximately 1.67%. Curve Balls, better throws and Golden Razz Berries can significantly improve your chances of catching it, so make sure you have plenty of Poké Balls and Golden Razz Berries ready when Eternatus returns.
Powering up Eternatus is a huge investment. Taking Eternatus all the way to Level 50 requires 520,000 Stardust, 9,980 Eternatus Candy and 8,900 Eternatus Candy XL. This makes the return especially valuable for Trainers who want to build enough resources to maximize their Eternatus.
Mega Pokémon can provide additional Candy and Candy XL bonuses when catching Eternatus. For Dragon-type Candy, useful Mega Pokémon include Mega Rayquaza, Mega Garchomp, Mega Salamence, Mega Latios, Mega Latias, Mega Sceptile, Mega Dragonite, Mega Ampharos and Mega Altaria. For Poison-type Candy, Mega Venusaur, Mega Beedrill, Mega Victreebel and Mega Gengar can provide useful bonuses.
GO Wild Area – Lead Out is currently expected to run from November 14 through November 23, but additional event details have not yet been revealed.
