Is it a fair trade? In today’s episode of my Pokémon GO series, **Is It A Fair Trade?**, I received another remote trade request, and this one looked like it could be interesting. The other Trainer wanted one of my **Shiny Kyurem**, and thankfully, Kyurem is a Pokémon I have plenty of, so I was more than happy to see what they were willing to offer in return.
When it comes to remote trades in Pokémon GO, you never really know what you’re going to get. Sometimes you can find an incredible trade that gives you a Pokémon you’ve been hunting forever, while other times you end up with something that looks amazing at first but completely disappoints you when you check the IVs. That’s exactly what makes these trades so fun, and why I keep asking the question: **Is It A Fair Trade?**
The Trainer in this trade was surprisingly humble, so I decided to look through their Pokémon and find a shiny legendary that I would actually be excited to receive. After scrolling through the options, I spotted it: **Shiny Mewtwo**. If you’ve watched my Pokémon GO content before, you already know that Mewtwo is one of my absolute favourites, so seeing a Shiny Mewtwo offered in return for my Shiny Kyurem immediately caught my attention.
At that point, the trade looked pretty promising. Shiny Kyurem for Shiny Mewtwo? On paper, that sounds like a trade worth considering. Both are shiny legendary Pokémon, both can be valuable additions to a Pokémon GO collection, and Mewtwo is a Pokémon I would happily add to my collection any day.
The trade was accepted, and then came the part that can make or break any Pokémon GO trade: **the IV check**.
I checked the Shiny Mewtwo’s stats and… **13/12/15**.
Ouch.
It’s another one of those Pokémon that looks incredible sitting in your storage, but when you actually look at the IVs, you realise it’s probably going to spend the rest of its life sitting there instead of being powered up and used. A Shiny Mewtwo is still a Shiny Mewtwo, and I’m definitely not complaining about adding another shiny legendary to the collection, but that IV spread definitely wasn’t what I was hoping to see.
And that’s the whole point of this series. A trade can look amazing before you hit the trade button, but once the Pokémon is locked in and the IVs are rerolled, everything can change. You could get a hundo, a PvP monster, an incredible lucky trade… or you could get a **13/12/15** that you know you’re probably never going to use.
So now I want to know what YOU think.

Would you have accepted this trade if you were me? Would you rather keep the Shiny Kyurem, or would you happily take another Shiny Mewtwo regardless of the IVs?
