Pokémon GO’s 10th Anniversary Party event has officially been announced, and it’s bringing some of the biggest catch bonuses we’ve seen all year! From July 4 to July 6, Trainers can take advantage of 4x Catch XP, 4x Catch Stardust, boosted shiny rates for featured event Pokémon, and the return of Shiny Gimmighoul through Coin Bags.
One of the biggest highlights of the event is the debut of Gimmighoul holding a special 10th Anniversary Coin. Trainers can encounter this exclusive version of Gimmighoul from Coin Bags and Golden Lure Modules, with a chance of obtaining one featuring a special anniversary background. Better yet, Shiny Gimmighoul will once again be available during the event for lucky Trainers.
Wild spawns during the event include Cake Hat Pikachu, Eevee, and Party Hat Wurmple, all of which can be shiny. Niantic has also increased the shiny odds for event-themed Pokémon, making this one of the best opportunities of the year to hunt for costume shinies while earning huge amounts of XP and Stardust at the same time.
The event will also feature exclusive Field Research tasks that reward encounters with event Pokémon, along with a paid Timed Research ticket that includes rewards such as a Premium Battle Pass, a Super Incubator, and an encounter with a special-background Anniversary Coin Gimmighoul.
Collectors and battlers will also want to pay attention to the featured legacy moves available during the event. Evolving Ivysaur will give you a Venusaur with Frenzy Plant, evolving Charmeleon will give you a Charizard with Blast Burn, and evolving Wartortle will give you a Blastoise with Hydro Cannon. These Community Day-exclusive moves remain some of the strongest attacks available for their respective Pokémon.
While the rewards and bonuses are fantastic, many long-time Trainers have noticed one funny detail: Pokémon GO is celebrating its 10th anniversary with some of the same party hat Pokémon we’ve been catching for nearly a decade. After 10 years of adventures, raids, Community Days, GO Fest events, legendary hunts, and shiny grinds, it seems the party hats are still going strong.
